A little about me

I'm Nicole Pollen — a specialist dyslexia teacher working with children and families across Tunbridge Wells and West Kent.

I started Oakhurst because I believe every child deserves to feel capable. Many of the children I work with arrive having lost confidence — in reading, in school, sometimes in themselves. Watching that confidence return is the best part of my job.

My approach

How I work

Every child learns differently, so I don't follow a fixed programme. I take time to understand how your child learns, then build structured, multisensory sessions around them.

  • Built around your child

Sessions are paced and shaped to how your child learns best — never one-size-fits-all.

  • Calm and encouraging

We build skills and confidence together, because they grow together.

  • You're kept in the loop

Regular plain-English updates, plus liaison with your child's school where it helps.

Where I work

I'm based near Tunbridge Wells and support families across West Kent, in your home or online — whichever suits your child best.
